(Football news) Real Valladolid and Getafe both were facing relegation and their last match was against each other. To get out of the relegation zone Real Valladolid had to win the match against Getafe, but they drew the match and Valladolid got relegated by the difference of just one point.

The final match between Espanyol and Almeria ended in a 3-3 draw, with the Andalucians narrowly securing survival in the 87th minute. Prior to former player Adri Embarba’s late penalty kick conversion to draw the game and send his old team to the Segunda Division, the hosts were ahead 3-2 with just a few seconds remaining. Levante, Albacete, Alaves, and Eibar will advance to the play-offs as the second division promotion campaign will be resolved in the upcoming weeks, with Granada and Las Palmas securing automatic slots.

“A hard night, a very hard night, which with the passing of time will give way to renewed hope for the start of next season.,” Valladolid said in a statement.

“Now it is time to lick the wounds, to apologise to the fans who have been up to the task and to work hard to lay the foundations for the next promotion.”

Gabri Veiga used a burst of speed to slip past defenders Marcos Alonso and Andreas Christensen at the Balaidos in Vigo and score the game’s opening goal in the 42nd minute as host Celta, who were fighting to stay atop the table, seized the lead.

Celta took charge of the match, sending wave after wave of attempts on Barca’s defence before Veiga scored once more with a cross that landed fortuitously into the net in the 65th minute. This move was motivated by a desire to confirm their safety. Ansu Fati, one of Barca’s several second-half replacements, scored Barcelona’s only goal of the game in the 79th minute, but Celta held on to win and finished in 13th place, ending a six-game league losing streak.

Almeria narrowly avoided relegation after trailing to already relegated Espanyol twice and falling behind Valladolid in the rankings. Adri Embarba’s 87th-minute penalty gained a 3-3 draw and lifted them to 41 points, one more than Valladolid. Valencia, who was in danger of being relegated for the first time since being promoted to the Spanish top division in 1987, managed to hold off Real Betis in a 1-1 draw to stay in the competition.
