(Football news) Just when everyone thought Real Madrid’s transfer was done Los Blancos have moved in double quick time to almost complete a deal. Arda Guler has attracted the attention of the majority of big European clubs. Barcelona president Joan Laporta publicly confirmed the Blaugrana’s interest in Guler. He said that the club is working on the signing but then Real Madrid stepped in. The Merengues were able to convince Arda Guler to choose them and now the deal is set to be completed.

Juni Calafat was once again said to be the key as he really wanted to sign the Fenerbahce midfielder. The deal will be worth £20M plus add-ons, taxes, and commissions. Fenerbahce has also included a 20% sell-on clause because Guler’s price will only shoot up in the near future. Real Madrid have decided to pay Fenerbahce more money because Guler personally asked Florentino Perez if he could earn his boyhood club more money and the president immediately agreed.

Arda Guler is a number 10 who can also play on the right wing and as a box-to-box midfielder. Carlo Ancelotti may use him as a right-wing more often because the midfield is already very crowded. Former Real Madrid player Mesut Ozil who has played with Guler has praised Guler on multiple occasions saying  “Is there a number 10 better than me? I can think of a name, I have a brother that I believe in, may God protect him – his name is Arda Güler.” The player reportedly talked to Luka Modric and Toni Kroos before making his decision to join Real Madrid. Modric told him that he wants Guler to take his number 10 shirt next season.

Even though the signing seems to be reactionary in order to stop Barcelona from signing Arda Guler, according to reports Real Madrid have been monitoring the youngster for the past two years. Guler himself preferred a move to Real Madrid over other clubs because to the project presented to him.

Los Blancos initially planned to sign him next season or loan him out but Guler was very determined to join the team now. That says a lot about his character because despite a lot of competition especially in midfield Guler is willing to fight. The midfielder may struggle to get chances at Real Madrid but he is still just 18 years of age and has a lot of experience to gain.
