(Football news) Real Madrid defeated Osasuna 2-0 away from home without Karim Benzema, Toni Kroos and Aurélien Tchouaméni. Carlo Ancelotti started a midfield of Dani Ceballos, Luka Modric and Eduardo Camavinga with Fede Valverde, Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo up front. Real Madrid were dominant from the start but just couldn’t test the Osasuna goalkeeper. The home side also had a couple of really good chances but couldn’t take it. Osasuna made a couple of errors in defence which went unpunished but eventually Real Madrid did get a goal in the 78th minute.

Vinicius Jr assisted Fede Valverde who scored his 4th goal in as many games. Castilla youngster Alvaro Rodrigues came on and looked to have set up Vinicius for the 2nd goal but it was ruled out for offside. He did get his assist eventually after setting up substitute Marco Asensio who scored for the 2nd consecutive game. Real Madrid have got back to back wins but they now prepare to face Liverpool, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona in the space of 10 days.

Atletico Madrid got a 1-0 win over Athletic Club at the Wanda Metropolitano. Diego Simeone started in a 4-4-2 with Antoine Griezmann and Angel Correa up front. Alvaro Morata started on the bench as did Memphis Depay who is yet to start a game for the Rojiblancos. The game was pretty cagey for the most part with both teams getting very few chances. The only goal came in the 73rd thanks to a brilliant solo effort by Antoine Griezmann. The win means that Atléti are now just 2 points behind 3rd place Real Sociedad. They have a game against city rivals Real Madrid next week at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Barcelona got their 7th consecutive league win as they beat Cadiz 2-0. Keeping the return leg against Manchester United in mind, Raphinha was benched as Ferran Torres and Ansu Fati got a rare start. Sergio Busquets was once again an unused substitute while Franck Kessie only came on in the 69th minute. 2 goals from Robert Lewandowski and Sergi Roberto towards the end of the 1st half was enough to get Barcelona the win. They are still 8 points ahead of Real Madrid in the league but wil now be focused on the Europa League match against Barcelona.
