(Football news) After a disappointing draw against Bayer Leverkusen that relegated them to the Europa League, Atletico Madrid will be playing against Cadiz away from home. Cadiz is one of the most defensive teams in the league, so the match is likely to be a low scoring affair. Diego Simeone needs to get things back on track as it has been an underwhelming start to the season. Thomas Lemar, Koke, Sergio Reguilon and Marcos Llorente are all still out due to injury. Cadiz on the other hand will be missing Joseba Zaldua, Momo Mbaye, David Gil, Jon Garrido and Ivan Alejo through injury while Isaac Carcelen and Ruben Alcaraz are suspended. Atletico Madrid cannot afford to lose this game as it will bring a lot of pressure on Simeone. In a perfect scenario, the Rojiblancos will want a comfortable win to get their groove back.
When it comes to Europe, Barcelona are in a tough spot as they first got relegated to the Europa League after Inter Milan defeated Viktoria Plzen. After that they were once again dismantled by Bayern Munich at the Nou Camp 3-0. In the league however things aren't too bad as they are 2nd on the table, having dropped just 4 points. The Blaugrana will take on Valencia away from home. Memphis Depay, Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen are still unavailable while Sergi Roberto is the newest member on the treatment table. Valencia on the other hand will be missing Samu Castillejo, Jaume Domenech, Mouctar Diakhaby and Ilaix Moriba through injury. Nico Gonzalez is unavailable as he is at Valencia on loan from Barcelona and his contract doesn't allow him to play against his parent club.
Real Madrid on Wednesday lost their first game of the season against RB Leipzig. Thankfully for Carlo Ancelotti and his men, they had already qualified for the knockouts and the result didn't have any effect other than the fact that they might have to win against Celtic to finish on top of the table. Now they prepare for a tricky clash against Girona at the Santiago Bernabeu. Two of Real Madrid's most important players Karim Benzema and Fede Valverde are big doubts for the clash. Luka Modric will be back after missing the game at Leipzig while Dani Ceballos and Mariano are also ready. As for Girona, Borja Garcia and Ibrahima Kebe are out of contention while Juanpe's availability is a doubt.
