Real Madrid draw 2-2 against Club America in an entertaining clash

(Football news) Real Madrid have drawn their 2nd preseason game 2-2 against Club America. It was a very entertaining clash with high intensity football from both sides. Real Madrid did dominate the majority of the match but Club America were pretty clinical in decisive moments. Real Madrid haven't won any of their two games yet but pre-season is never about the results. Carlo Ancelotti will be happy with the intensity that his team has brought but at the same time there is concern that Los Blancos haven't been clinical enough in front of goal. Thibaut Courtois was benched as Andriy Lunin played the full 90 minutes. Karim Benzema returned to the side after missing the El Clasico while Antonio Rudiger relocated to centre back.

Club America started the game really well with high pressure and quick movement. They got their reward in the 5th minute as Henry Martin opened the scoring. Karim Benzema started exactly where he left off as he scored an equaliser in the the 32nd minute after a one two with Marco Asensio. 10 wickets into the 2nd half, Lucas Vazquez won a penalty which was converted by Eden Hazard. Vinicius Tobias on his Real Madrid debut conceded a penalty in the 81st minute through which Club America equalised. The Merengues had a couple of good chances towards the end but couldn't sneak in a goal. Club America had a couple of good spells in the game where they looked really threatening. Both sets of Madrid's midfield played really well in each half while Karim Benzema is still the difference maker.

Antonio Rudiger was asked to play at centre back while Ferland Mendy and David Alaba played left back in each half. Alaba and Rudiger looked so much more comfortable in their natural roles which is a big takeaway for Ancelotti. The 15th minute period at the start of the 2nd half where Alaba, Rudiger and Eder Militao played together was one of the best periods of the game for Real Madrid. Choosing the best midfield trio is going to be a very difficult job for Carlo Ancelotti and that will be one area of the pitch which is likely to have lots of changes.
