Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund both keen on ending Reinier Jesus’ loan

(Football news) In 2020 Real Madrid continued their new trend of signing young Braziliians as they brought 18-year-old Reinier Jesus to the club from Flamengo. Los Blancos reportedly paid around €30 million for the attacking midfielder.

After making 3 appearances for Real Madrid Castilla side, Jesus was loaned out to Borussia Dortmund for two years. The Brazilian has failed to break into the BVB line-up. He has played only 614 minutes in one and a half season in Dortmund. It is very obvious that Reinier cannot get anywhere near the Real Madrid first team anytime soon. The Brazilian experiment at Real Madrid has worked out well with the likes of Marcelo, Casemiro, Eder Militao, Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr whereas Reinier Jesus could be an exception.

Reports suggest that Borussia Dortmund no longer want the services of Jesus as they plan to terminate the loan 6 months early in January. Real Madrid is said to be working on a sale with a buy back clause rather than another loan. Getafe, Espanyol, Newcastle United, and Benfica are identified as potential destinations. Benfica is currently coached by Jorge Jesus who was the manager that promoted Reinier to the first team at Flamengo.

This situation is proof that Real Madrid's strategy of paying a huge amount of transfer fee for unproven youngster's isn't always going to work out. There will be a few hits and misses along the way. It looks like Reinier Jesus will be a miss and Los Blancos will face a loss on his sale.
