Rashid Khan ruled out of Afghanistan’s tour of India

(Cricket news) Afghanistan’s T20 captain and the premier spinner Rashid Khan has been ruled out of the T20I series against India. Ibrahim Zadran the stand in captain for Afghanistan confirmed on Wednesday that Rashid will not be a part of the series but will travel with the team.

The 25-year old Afghan spinner underwent a back surgery and is in his rehab process and still not totally fit to be on the field. Rashid has been an integral part of the Afghan set up across formats and is one of the best spinners going around in world cricket for a long time now.

“He is not totally fit, but he is travelling with us. He is doing his rehab, and we are hoping that he gets fit as soon as possible. We will miss him in this series,” Zadran said at the press conference on Wednesday.

Rashid has a stellar record when it comes to the T20s. He has represented Afghanistan in 82 T20s and has taken 130 wickets at an exceptional average of 14.81. He also has a wonderful record across leagues all over the world.

His absence in the series will be a big miss for Afghanistan given that this is Afghanistan’s maiden tour to India and they had a wonderful chance to face a quality team like India ahead of the T20 world cup coming up this June.

“Without Rashid, we will struggle as his experience is invaluable, but even in his absence, we have got quality spinners in Mujeeb, Nabi, Noor and Qais Ahmad ,all of them have played a lot of cricket, and we have trust in them,” added Zadran one the eve of the series opener.
