(Football news) The Premier League witnessed two very important bottom half clashes. It may be too early in the season to have a relegation battle but the two matches that happened could have a massive effect on the bottom half of the table. 

20th placed Newcastle played 19th place Norwich City in a very important grudge match. Newcastle were looking for their first win of the season which would take them above Norwich City and Cairan Clark made that task ever so difficult. Clark pulled back Teemu Pukki who was one on one with the keeper and got himself sent off just 9 minutes after kick off. Eddie Howe's men managed to hold on and defended well. Their resilience was rewarded when Billy Gilmour handled the ball after a Newcastle corner and the referee pointed to the spot after a VAR check. Callum Wilson's penalty struck the arm of Tim Krul but still found it's way in. Things were going well for Newcastle before Teemu Pukki scored a wonderful volley in the 79th minute to bring things back on level terms. In injury time, a mistake from Fabian Scharr put Pierre Lees-Melou on goal. The shot was saved by Martin Dubruvka but Lees-Melou should've done better. The points were shared as Newcastle are still winless and 3 points behind Norwich. Newcastle are 17th, 1 point ahead of Burnley who have 2 games in hand. 

Leeds defeated Crystal Palace by the tiniest of margins in injury time. Leeds dominated the game but couldn't create clear enough chances. Patrick Vieira decided to bench striker Christian Benteke who came on as a substitute in the 68th minute. The Belgian had two very good chances to break the deadlock but failed to capitalise on it. With 5 minutes of injury time left, a cross into the Palace box struck Marc Guehi's arm and Leeds were awarded a penalty after a VAR check. Raphina stepped up and slotted the penalty home to secure 3 important points that took Leeds from 17th to 15th on the table. Palace on the other hand could drop to 14 if Aston Villa and Everton win their next games.
