PSG will play Brest in Coupe de France

Paris Saint-Germain vs Brest, the premier match of the Coupe de France round of 16 on Wednesday night, will take place at Parc des Princes

(Football news) With PSG topping the league standings and Brest in third, this match will pit two of Ligue 1’s greatest teams of the season against each other for a berth in the round of eight.

Following their elimination from the competition in the same round the previous year, Paris Saint-Germain will be attempting to reclaim the Coupe de France, which they had won the previous two years.

They started the season with a huge 9-0 victory over Revel at the beginning of January, and a few weeks ago, they defeated Orleans 4-1. Thus far, they have proven to be strong in the competition.

The Parisians have an incredible home record in this competition and have not lost at Parc des Princes since January 2014, posting a total of 15 wins and just a single draw in that time.

In addition, Luis Enrique’s side have an even more impressive record against this opponent, unbeaten in their last 27 competitive matches (W19 D8 L0) spanning a period of almost four decades.

However, the 14-time champions of this tournament will know that they will need to be at their best to progress to the next round, especially after Brest came from two goals down to take a point off them in a nail-biting league encounter less than two weeks ago.

Meanwhile, the 2023–24 season has been somewhat of a fairytale for Brest thus far, considering that they finished in 14th place in the league and were eliminated from this competition in the round of 32 the previous season.

With the first half of the season already over, the Pirates are now in a Champions League qualifying spot and are only three points behind Nice, who they drew 0-0 with over the weekend.
