PSG set to complete the signing of Goncalo Ramos from Benfica

(Football news) With Paris Saint-Germain’s much-publicised hunt for a new centre-forward this summer yet to bear fruit, the Ligue 1 champions appear to be closing in on one of their striking targets. PSG have accepted personal terms with Benfica attacker Gonçalo Ramos, according to RMC Sport and Le Parisien tonight.

The 22-year-old is the club’s latest target, following fruitless bids for Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen, Duan Vlahovi, and Rasmus Højlund. With Ousmane Dembélé on the way, Les Parisiens are also in discussions to sign Randal Kolo Muani.

The proximity of sporting advisor Lus Campos to Ramos’ agent Jorge Mendes, who has been involved in a number of signings at PSG in recent seasons, is thought to benefit a potential move. Benfica, on the other hand, is resolute about keeping to their €80 million asking price.

Ramos’ signing was also not unanimously approved by PSG management. Campos is leading the talks, while club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is participating in negotiations for Dembélé and Kolo Muani.

Last season, the Portuguese international scored a hat-trick against Switzerland at the World Cup and had 27 goals in all competitions for the Lisbon-based club. The Ligue 1 champions are close to signing Ousmane Dembele from Barcelona by triggering a €50 million (£43 million/$54 million) release clause. PSG have also shortlisted Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani, who club owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi personally wants to sign.
