(Football news) PSG in recent weeks has really struggled domestically. They were knocked out of the Coupe de France by Marseille before being dismantled by Monaco in the Ligue 1. Bayern Munich had 3 draws in a row after the World Cup break now they have bounced back with 3 comfortable wins in 3 games. PSG and Bayern Munich have faced each other quite a few times in recent history. The two teams were in the same group in the 2017/18 season where they each won their home games. They then met in the 2020 finals which was won by Bayern Munich while the next season PSG got their revenge by winning the quarter finals.
PSG have quite a few injury problems going into the game. Renato Sanchez and Nordi Mukiele are ruled out of the game due to injuries. Lionel Messi and Fabian Ruiz who missed the match on the weekend should be fit enough to start. Marco Verrati and Kylian Mbappe who have been out for a while now are also in the squad but are likely to be on the bench.
Christophe Galtier rested Achraf Hakimi, Nuno Mendes and Sergio Ramos at the weekend so the trio should be fresh for this game. As for Bayern Munich long term absentees Ryan Gravenberch, Noussair Mazraoui, Lucas Hernandez and Sadio Mane remain out of contention. Thomas Muller came off at half time on the weekend due to a discomfort so his availability is a doubt.
PSG’s attack is obviously their biggest strength and if Messi and Neymar get into the groove then it will be difficult to stop. Julian Nagelsmann will definitely want his side to play their football and not go into a shell. Joshua Kimmich will be the most important player for Bayern Munich. He is the one that’ll keep the midfield ticking. PSG’s two man midfield is definitely their weakest point and the pair of Kimmich and Leon Goretzka will be looking to exploit it. Kingsley Coman is in really good form having scored 3 goals in 2 games. He will be hoping to make an impact against his boyhood club just like he did in the 2020 final.
