Pretoria Capitals registers the lowest total in the history of SA20

(Cricket news) Sunrisers Eastern Cape hammered Pretoria Capitals by 9 wickets to capture a dominating bonus point victory in the 15th match of the SA20. The Capitals were shot out for the lowest total (52/all out) in SA20’s brief history.

After being put into bat by SEC, the Capitals started positively scoring 25 in just 2.5 overs, but what followed was nothing less than a nightmare for the visitors. The wicket of Phil Salt, on the last ball of the 3rd over, opened the floodgates, as none of the other Capitals’ batter managed even to score in double digits.

Pretoria Capitals saw a giant collapse as they were shot out for a total of just 52 runs. St. George’s Park surface surprisingly offered steepling bounce and carry for the fast bowlers and the hosts made the full use of it. Baartman led the attack for SEC picking up 4 wickets alongside Worrall who took 3 wickets.

Sunrisers’ chase was nothing, but a formality. Chasing a very small total SEC lost an early wicket in the form of Dawid Malan, but then it was a one-way traffic. The Sunrisers chased down the target inside 7 overs and completed their dominating win over the Capitals, also ensuring a bonus point for themselves in the process.

Brief scores: Pretoria Capitals – 52 in 13.3 overs (Ottniel Baartman 4-12, Daniel Worrall 3-22) Sunrisers Eastern Cape – 54/1 in 6.5 overs (Tom Abell 31*, Jordan Hermann 20*)
