New Zealand brush-aside Nepal, as they register a dominant win in the U19 CWC

(Cricket news) New Zealand registered a dominant win against Nepal in the U19 Cricket World Cup 2024 as they won by 64 runs in the 7th Match played at Buffalo Park. Snehith Reddy led the Kiwis with his exceptional knock of 147 from just 125 balls. His knock included 11 boundaries and 6 sixes which helped his side post 308 for 8 before Nepal were restricted to 238 for 9.

New Zealand, electing to bat had a steady start as they managed to put up a 53 opening stand. However they found themselves in trouble as they lost 3 quick wickets in succession and were reduced to 67/3 inside 15 overs. Skipper Oscar Jackson and Snehith Reddy then revived the Kiwi innings with a 157-run stand for the fourth wicket. 

Gulshan Jha struck twice in quick succession to keep New Zealand in check in the late overs but Reddy’s effort ensured the side crossed the 300-run mark despite the late stutter. Subhash Bhandari was the pick of the bowlers for Nepal, as he picked up 3 wickets conceding 60 runs off his quota of 10 overs.

In return, Nepal never really looked in course with the game. They kept losing wickets in frequent intervals. Dev Khanal and Arjun Kumal tried to steady the innings briefly with a 69-run stand but New Zealand kept chipping in with regular wickets to ensure Nepal’s chase never got the momentum it needed. Arjun Kumal fall short of his Century as he was dismissed by Schreuder at the score of 90.

The lower order of Nepal, led by Subash Bhandari’s unbeaten 33 managed to take Nepal pass the 200-run mark and put up a fight till the end. Mason Clarke led the Kiwi attack with an exceptional spell of 3/25 in 8 overs.
