Pramod Bhagat wins three medals at Canada Para Badminton Meet

New Delhi, Jun 19 (PTI) India’s ace shuttler Pramod Bhagat has won a silver medal in singles and two bronze — one each in men’s doubles and mixed doubles — at the recently-concluded Canada Para-Badminton International 2023 in Ottawa.

In the men’s singles final, the Padma Shri awardee went down to England’s Daniel Bethell 12-21 13-21 to secure a silver medal with the contest lasting for 58 minutes.

The world No 1 pair of Bhagat and Sukant Kadam, who had claimed gold in the past few events, couldn’t recreate their magic and settled for the bronze medal in the men’s doubles.

In the mixed doubles, Bhagat combined with Manisha Ramadass to claim a bronze. The Indian duo lost to the Indonesian pair of Fredy Setiawan and Khalimatus Sadiyah.

Bhagat said, “I am not very happy with my performance in this tournament, Bethell played a really good game. It is time to go back to the drawing board and look at the mistakes that I have done and start working on the same.”
