Pogba complains about receiving no offer from Man Utd in his Pogmentary

(Football news) In an upcoming documentary named ‘Pogmentary’ which was released on Amazon Prime, Paul Pogba claimed that Manchester United offered him ‘nothing’ despite the club offering him two contract extensions worth more than £290,000, a 3.5% increase on his previous deal. The player is now on the verge of joining Juventus as a free agent as his agents are finalising a four year contract with the Turin based club despite interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.

In a preview of the Pogmentary, Pogba is seen speaking to his agent Mino Raiola, asking him “Did Manchester (United) make a second offer?” His Italian agent, who has since passed away, replied with “Yes. They absolutely want you to stay. For me, the offer doesn't reflect that. I told them, 'If you want him to stay, don't make that offer'. I will make them understand that if they really want you to stay and they want to build a project around you, this time they have to act differently and put the money on the table." After hearing his agent's comments, Pogba is heard replying “They're bluffing. How can you tell a player you absolutely want him and offer him nothing? Never seen that."

The Frenchman has also claimed that Manchester United didn’t show adequate care for the player while he was recuperating for an injury, resulting in Pogba only managing to regain his confidence after joining the French national team. As things stand, the 29 year old is expected to announce his final decision in the coming days and if he returns to Juventus, he would make a return to the club where he has spent 4 successful years already. It could very well be the last big move of his career as he would be 34 years old by the time he leaves the Italian club. Manchester City were also interested in Pogba’s signature and despite considering their offer, the Frenchman decided not to join the rivals of his boyhood club.

Overall, Pogba would be disappointed by his time at Manchester United. His time at Old Trafford has been underwhelming to say the least, with his only decent season coming when he signed for a world record fee. The player has failed to justify his hefty price tag and despite moments of brilliance, Pogba has largely been unable to replicate the form he has shown with the French national team. The player has been unjustly criticised by the British media as well for his haircuts, fashion sense and his happy-go-lucky attitude, with underlying hints of racism a possible reason behind his treatment by many publications. A move back to the Serie A might not be the best for the Frenchman, as he has already won all there is to achieve in Italy and it would signify a lack of ambition from Pogba. In an ideal world, he should have stayed back at Manchester United and been a part of Erik ten Hag’s rebuilding process to take his boyhood club back to the summit of world football.
