Pedri weighs in on Eric Garcia’s Barcelona vs. Monaco red card.

After 11 minutes, Eric Garcia was sent off for a last-man challenge following a subpar pass from goalie Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Pedri claimed there was a misunderstanding between the two players and declined to assign blame.

“It was a communication error between the two, it can happen, we have to move on and try to make sure it doesn’t happen again,” he told the media.

“With one less player we have run three times as much and we have to recover, I’m sure that on Sunday we will be fine.”

Even though Barca suffered their first setback of the year, Pedri was still able to draw some conclusions from the 2-1 loss.

“I’m left with the fact that the team rose to the occasion and created chances with ten players, even with the early red card,” he continued.

“We didn’t want to start the Champions League this way, but the new format gives us seven games to turn it around. It’s not easy to play so many minutes with one less player, and if you don’t win, it’s the worst game of the season.”

On Tuesday, October 1, Barcelona will play their next Champions League match at home against Young Boys, a Swiss team. Young Boys’ first competition matchup ended in a 3-0 loss to Aston Villa.
