Pedri Demands UEFA Review After Semi

Barcelona midfielder Pedri expressed his dissatisfaction with referee Szymon Marciniak’s contentious calls during the intense second leg of the Champions League semi-final, which saw Inter Milan win 4-3.

Pedri remarked, “I’m proud of the team,” after Barcelona’s heroic comeback.  However, there is a persistent feeling of annoyance.  We fought our way out of a difficult situation, but once more, contentious officiating situations appeared to work against us.  We have had similar problems with this referee in the past, and I think UEFA should take action.  Certain decisions are inexplicable,” he said.

As Pedri went into detail about particular occurrences, particularly the controversial penalty situation involving Lamina, the tension was evident.  “All the 50-50 situations seemed to tilt in their favor,” he said.  “Particularly in the case of Lamina’s penalty, which was downgraded to a free kick; Mkhitaryan escaped without a yellow card, his second, which could have been pivotal,” Pedri stated to Mundo Deportivo.

Fans and players alike will never forget this game because it demonstrated the beauty and unpredictable nature of football, making many wonder what officiating would be like on the biggest platform in the sport.
