(Cricket News) Mumbai Indians caused a stir in Indian cricket by successfully acquiring Gujarat Titans’ captain, Hardik Pandya, back to the franchise where he had recently made a significant impact.

This move carries the potential to reshape the dynamics of the Indian Premier League (IPL), influencing the fortunes of both involved teams. Following Pandya’s departure, the Titans opted for Shubman Gill as their new captain. Meanwhile, Mumbai faced the challenging decision of entrusting the leadership role to Pandya, a move that could potentially unsettle long-time captain Rohit Sharma and team veterans Jasprit Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav, all of whom have showcased captaincy potential.

However, for Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami, who represents the Titans, Pandya’s transfer is viewed as a commonplace occurrence in sports. Shami expressed, “Kisike jane se kisiko farak nahi padta (It doesn’t matter to anyone if anyone else is leaving the team).” He emphasized the importance of considering the team’s balance, acknowledging Pandya’s successful captaincy that led the Titans to the IPL final in both editions, resulting in a title win in their inaugural season. Shami highlighted that players like Pandya aren’t signed for a lifetime, and decisions to stay or leave are part of the game.

Reflecting on the captaincy transition, Shami remarked, “When you become captain, it’s important to handle the responsibility while taking care of your performances. And that responsibility has been assigned to Shubman this time.” He reassured that, despite the change in leadership, the players remain largely the same, offering advice to manage players effectively and extract the best from them.
