PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has confirmed that Pakistan will not travel to India for the upcoming 2025 ICC Women’s ODI World Cup. Instead, Pakistan’s matches will be played at a neutral venue, as per the hybrid model previously agreed upon by the ICC.
Naqvi stated that the ICC and India will decide the neutral venue for Pakistan’s fixtures. “Just like India didn’t travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy and played at a neutral venue, we will do the same. When there is an agreement, it must be honoured,” he said.
Earlier this year, India opted out of visiting Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy, instead playing their matches in Dubai due to ongoing political tensions. Under the hybrid model, both nations have agreed to play at neutral venues if either is hosting an ICC event through 2027.
India will host the Women’s ODI World Cup from September 29 to October 26, with Australia entering as the defending champions. Pakistan secured their place in the tournament by winning all five of their matches in the qualifying event, defeating Ireland, Scotland, West Indies, Thailand, and Bangladesh.
Naqvi praised the women’s team for their impressive performance and confirmed that the PCB will soon announce a special reward in recognition of their success. “The team took full advantage of home conditions and played as a united unit,” he said. “It’s encouraging to see women’s cricket making such strong progress.”
