In a solemn tribute to the victims of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, the IPL 2025 clash between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Mumbai Indians (MI) in Hyderabad tonight will be marked by several gestures of mourning and solidarity.

Players from both teams will observe a minute’s silence before the start of the match and wear black armbands throughout the game as a mark of respect for those who lost their lives in Tuesday’s attack.

In a departure from usual IPL fanfare, there will be no cheerleaders or fireworks during the match. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will pay tribute in various ways, beginning with an announcement over the public address system, encouraging fans in the stadium and viewers at home to participate in the moment of silence.

At the toss, both captains will formally pay homage to the victims and condemn the attack. Black armbands will also be worn by all players, officials, support staff, and commentators. Broadcasters have been instructed to explain the significance of the armbands and address the tragedy during the match coverage.

The terror attack in the hill town of Pahalgam on Tuesday resulted in the deaths of at least 26 people and left many others injured.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia issued a statement on Wednesday, saying,

“The cricketing community is deeply shocked and anguished by the tragic loss of innocent lives in the gruesome terror attack at Pahalgam yesterday. On behalf of the BCCI, while condemning this ghastly and cowardly act in the strongest possible terms, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayers for the departed souls. In sharing their pain and grief, we stand hand in hand at this hour of tragedy.”
