(Football news) As far as Oriol Romeu’s return to FC Barcelona is concerned, everything is finished, barring the confirmation of an official declaration. The 31-year-old midfielder, who will soon sign from Catalan rivals Girona, is ready to join his old team.

Barcelona eventually achieved a breakthrough over the weekend and came to an agreement in full to sign Romeu after protracted negotiations with Girona. A deal for €5 million with add-ons is expected to bring the Spanish midfielder to the team. Pablo Torre, who is moving from Barcelona to Girona on a season-long loan, is another player who will be involved in the transaction.

Romeu chose to finish his Barcelona medicals rather than participate in training with Girona today. Additionally, according to Alex Pintanel, the 31-year-old’s medical examinations were successful.

Oriol even briefly spoke to the media about his probable move to Barcelona after the treatment and stated: “Yes, I’m happy.”

Romeu continued, “I haven’t spoken to Xavi yet,” adding that he has not yet spoken to Xavi Hernandez, manager of Barcelona.

Romeu’s transfer is imminent, and an official announcement might be made in the next several hours. However, there’s a possibility the team will wait until tomorrow to officially announce the deal, so as not to conflict with Ilkay Gundogan’s ceremonial introduction to the Barcelona team, which is presently taking place.

In any case, Romeu will soon reunite with his childhood team to fix a large hole in the park’s centre and will be able to travel to the United States for the preseason tour.
