Nico Schlotterbeck rejects Bayern Munich to move to Dortmund

(Football news) According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Borussia Dortmund have reached a full agreement with Freiburg’s Nico Schlotterbeck to become their second signing for next season. Dortmund this season have struggled defensively and have now brought in two of the Bundesliga’s mainstays to fix their recurring issue. The Freiburg defender joins Bayern Munich’s Niklas Süle as they look to form a good defensive pairing next season.

Many clubs were interested in Schlotterbeck, including Tottenham, as Patrici had identified the  22-year-old as a candidate to fill the left centre-back position in Antonio Conte’s side. Top clubs have scouted Schlotterbeck as some of Europe’s top clubs have shown interest in him as the German is very much a modern centre-back in every sense possible. The 22-year-old can use both feet, is confident on the ball and has a  passing range to break through the defensive lines. Physically he is a very mobile defender and that allows the German to drive up the pitch similar to someone like Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger.

Dortmund made Nico Schlotterbeck as their second defensive signing this season after buying Niklas Sule on free transfer. Marco Rose is looking to completely change the defence as the likes of Akanji and Hummels might leave this summer. They are also preparing for life after Erling Haaland as Dortmund are chasing RB Salzburg star player Karim Adeyemi. This season, Dortmund will be disappointed not to win a single trophy as next season they hope that they can finally dethrone the 10 successive times champions, Bayern Munich.
