Bundesliga: Champions Bayern face Mainz, Dortmund take on VFL Bochum

(Football news) German champions Bayern Munich now face Mainz as Robert Lewandowski looks to break his own scoring record in the Bundesliga only. The visitors wrapped up their 10th title with victory in Der Klassiker last weekend, whilst Mainz were on the wrong end of a thumping as they continued to struggle this year after a flying start to the campaign. Disappointing early exits in the DFB-Pokal and Champions League meant that winning the title was the only bare minimum for the former RB Leipzig boss' first season in charge, whilst they were relatively  inconsistent throughout the league campaign but were left unpunished by the challenging BVB.

However, Bayern thoroughly deserve the Bundesliga crown once more, and with no participation in any other competition remaining, they will hope to finish this season on a high. Top-goalscorer Lewandowski will also be keen to add to his tally in the final three games,, as the Polish striker looks to add to his 33 league goals this bundesliga season..

Mainz 05 possible starting lineup:

Zentner; Hack, Bell, Niakhate; Widmer, Barreiro, Stach, Kohr, Martin; Onisiwo, Burkardt

Bayern Munich possible starting lineup:

Neuer; Pavard, Upamecano, Hernandez, Davies; Kimmich, Goretzka; Gnabry, Muller, Musiala; Lewandowski

Dortmund take on giant killers VFL Bochum as they look to consolidate their 2nd position in the league. The loss at the Allianz Arena meant that it ended Dortmund's pursuit of Bayern Munich's title, whilst the visitors slipped to another defeat to leave as their survival  in the league is still not confirmed. Looking ahead to Saturday's encounter, Dortmund  have very little left to play for on paper, with no participation in either European competition or the DFB-Pokal, which will all in all round off a very disappointing season for the black and yellow.

With eight points separating Dortmund from Bayer Leverkusen in third place ahead of the weekend's match, there remains a slim possibility that could see them drop down the table in the final few weeks of the season, but victory over Bochum on Saturday would confirm Dortmund's second-place finish for the Bundesliga this year

Borussia Dortmund possible starting lineup:

Hitz; Wolf, Akanji, Pongracic, Guerreiro; Witsel, Bellingham; Brandt, Reus, Reinier; Haaland

VfL Bochum possible starting lineup:

Riemann; Gamboa, Bella-Kotchap, Leitsch, Soares; Lowen, Losilla, Rexhbecaj; Zoller, Locadia, Asano
