Neymar Jr and Danilo to miss Brazil’s remaining group stage matches

(Football news) Brazil's World Cup campaign got off to a very good start as they defeated Serbia 2-0. However there was a big concern regarding star player Neymar who was subbed off in the 79th minute after some discomfort. According to reports Danilo also injured himself and the pair are likely to be ruled out of Brazil's two remaining group stage matches. While the news is a bad one it could've been worse. Brazil are more than capable of winning their games against Switzerland and Cameroon. It is the knockouts where they will need Neymar and it is good that he will be back.

With Danilo and Neymar out Real Madrid duo Rodrygo and Eder Militao are likely to come in as replacements. Rodrygo has had a brilliant year with Real Madrid and he is an able replacement. Neymar plays as a number 10 with lots of freedom, Rodrygo may not be given that much freedom but he will do a good job. The forward hasn't played as a number 10 for Real Madrid but he recently said that it is his favorite position. Brazil do have other options but Rodrygo makes the most sense. Gabriel Jesus could be a like for like replacement for Neymar. The other thing they could do is replace Neymar with Fred and switch to a 4-3-3 which will solidify the midfield.

Danilo's direct replacement in the squad is Dani Alves but Eder Militao is also in the mix. The Real Madrid man plays at centre back for Real Madrid but he has played right back while at Porto. In the first game Danilo wasn't going forward much so Militao can perfectly play that role. The advantage of playing Militao is that he is rapid and can go toe to toe with any forward who is trying to run on his goal. Militao does play well in the two games then it will be difficult for Danilo to get back in the team but the same cannot be said about Neymar.
