New Zealand makes it 4-0, as Mitchell, Phillips shines

(Cricket news) New Zealand beat Pakistan by 7 wickets in the 4th T20I to make it a 4-0 series lead against the visitors. Being put into bat Pakistan only managed to put up a score of 158 in their given 20 overs, thanks to a wonderful knock from Rizwan (90 off 63).

The Pakistani batters except Rizwan never looked comfortable in the middle, as the visitors kept loosing wickets from one end. None one the batters really stood up alongside Rizwan to take their team to a good total. Though, Mohammad Rizwan who carried his bat through the innings got some support from Nawaz down the order who scored a quickfire 21 off just 9 balls to take Pakistan past 150

Chasing a relatively small target, New Zealand had a nightmare of a start as they lost 3 quick wickets for just 20 runs inside the first three overs of the innings. The Pakistani skipper, Shaheen Afridi took out the dangerous Finn Allen and Tim Seifert in the very first over and then dismissed Will Young in the third to leave New Zealand down to 20 for 3.

It was then Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips, who dismissed all the hopes of the visitors of finally winning a game, with an exceptional 139 run unbroken stand to take the Kiwis home quite comfortably after a horror start. Mitchell whacked 72 off 44 while Phillips made 70 off 52.

Shaheen brought himself back with New Zealand needing 45 off the last 5 overs but was taken for 11 runs, including a six over backward square leg. Haris Rauf was then taken for cleaners and went for 15. Zaman Khan returned in the 18th over and was carted for a six each by both batters before Mitchell completed the win on the first ball of the penultimate over.
