Mumbai Indians will face Gujarat Titans in the Qualifier 2 of the IPL

MI will be eyeing to reach their 7th IPL final whereas GT will try to reach their 2nd consecutive IPL final

(Cricket news) GT will likely be under pressure in a knockout game for the first time in the fledgling franchise’s history. After being recently demoralised by a defeat in Qualifier 1, they are playing their first IPL game to stay alive.. The top team from the league stage didn’t play like it did against Chennai Super Kings, and it now appears that they aren’t completely confident in their starting lineup. Making a mistake during the season ending usually comes at a high cost.

MI, on the other hand, are reaching their peak at the ideal time. They put on one of their best performances in the Eliminator, winning four of their last five games in the group stage. On the other hand, the GT’s top bowlers Rashid Khan as well as Mohammed Shami are among those who have taken the most wickets for the season. They currently sit 1 and 2 in the wicket taking list, with Shami 1st and Rashid Khan 2nd. How effectively Madhwal and his colleagues execute could affect the result of this game.

GT’s hitting, however, is currently lacking the accuracy of their bowling. They must assess whether Dasun Shanaka is offering sufficient assistance. Assuring Vijay Shankar to bat when he can have the most impact, as well as doing more of both. Most importantly, they must figure out how to best employ batter Hardik Pandya’s skills. If that understanding is present, the Titans will think that their Qualifier loss was only a bump in the road on the way to defending their IPL title. It won’t be easy against a club that simply knows how to win big games.

Important Statistics

  • The numbers Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav have versus Rashid Khan are different. In his six innings, Rohit has been struck out four times, but Suryakumar has scored 67 runs in 47 balls without ever being struck out in the IPL.
  • With six victories out of nine attempts, Titans and Mumbai are the two strongest chasing teams in IPL 2023.
  • At No. 3 in the IPL 2023, Hardik averages 40 over eight innings, while at No. 4, he struggles, averaging 11.4 over five innings.
  • Mumbai’s powerplay bowling has continuously gotten better. Their powerplay economy of 9.2 throughout their first ten games was accompanied by an average of 54.9. Their powerplay economy in their last five games has decreased to 8.2, with an average of 27.3.

Squad Updates

In place of Yash Dayal, GT started Darshan Nalkande against the CSK, however Nalkande was limping after his bowling performance. If Nalkande is unfit, Dayal might reappear in the picture. The Titans might replace Shanaka with Josh Little, but Shanaka would be released. Little has an advantage against the uncapped Indians due to his experience and superior bowling statistics, especially in a knockout game. MI have no injury worries for their match against the LSG because Tilak Varma is back in the lineup.

Impact player strategy

If MI chooses to bat first, they could deploy an extra batter and give up an extra bowling option to raise their first-innings total, much like Nehal Wadhera did in the Eliminator. Otherwise, using Suryakumar Yadav as an Impact replacement for an Indian bowler is the standard procedure. In a chase, GT will probably choose Vijay as the Impact Player, and if they are defending, they will likely put in a fast bowler.

Pitch Report & weather

In Ahmedabad, it reached 43 degrees. The pitch has been covered by curators to prevent unnatural breakdown. The field for the game, which has nine surfaces and is one of the least used strips, has been brought in to purportedly provide a run fest.

It has had enough water to ensure that the soil beneath it is moist enough to help bind it. The season should have a lively pace, according to the curator. Dew isn’t expected to be a major issue because they utilise a chemical to prevent its production.
