Fraser-McGurk, Bartlett earns a call-up for West Indies ODIs

(Cricket news) Jake Fraser-McGurk is all set to make his international debut after being named in the Australian squad for their ODI series against West Indies. McGurk is being regarded as the next big-thing in Australian cricket and as the most talented young batter in Australia.

The young 21-year old caught public eye last year, when he smashed the record for the fastest List A ton ,when he hit a 29-ball hundred playing for South Australia. His rise has been impressive since. McGurk has had a wonderful BBL season scoring 257 runs at a wonderful strike rate of 158.64. He was also picked to play for the Dubai Capitals in ILT20 given his exceptional run in first class and league cricket.

Xavier Bartlett, the leading wicket-taker in BBL this season, has also been picked up for the West Indies series. Bartlett has been impressive with the new ball as well as in the death overs. In the absence of Jhye Richardson, Bartlett is expected to make it to the 11, given that the squad lacks first-choice pacers.

Steve Smith will be back as the skipper of Australia as he will lead the Kangaroos in the series starting from the 2nd of February at the MCG. The three-match series is set to kick-start at the MCG with the next two ODIs scheduled to be held at the SCG and the Manuka Oval in Canberra.
