Kylian Mbappé, 25, of Real Madrid, has been named the French Footballer of the Season for the 2023–2024 season by France Football.
Mbappé scored 52 goals in what turned out to be his final season at Paris Saint-Germain, and he has kept his title, albeit by a narrower margin than the previous year. He played a part in PSG’s journey to the UEFA Champions League semifinals, their victory in the Coupe de France, and their Ligue 1 title-winning campaign.
Mbappé finished five points ahead of William Saliba of Arsenal. In a season where the Gunners again came very close to winning the Premier League, the defender for Arsenal scored 51 points and made a name for himself in the France lineup.
Mike Maignan, the goalie for AC Milan, finished third with 24 points, ahead of Eduardo Camavinga (17 points) and Aurélien Tchouaméni (16 points) of Real Madrid. Pierre Lees-Melou of Stade Brestois and Antoine Griezmann shared sixth place with 15 points. Bradley Barcola (10 points) and Warren Zaïre-Emery (11 points) completed the top ten.
This award highlights Mbappé’s continued rise to superstardom, following previous accolades including his victory at the World Cup in 2018. At just 25 years old, Mbappé is already regarded as one of the most talented and influential footballers worldwide. His combination of skill, vision, and consistency continues to set him apart as the best in French football.
