(Football news) With his arrival from Chelsea during the summer transfer window, the England international has struggled to establish himself for the 20-time English champions. After missing five games earlier this season due to a muscle issue, the forward has only provided one assist in 12 appearances for Man United in 2023–24.

While previewing Sunday’s matchup with Everton at his news conference on Friday, Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag did not address the possibility of an injury to Mount.  However, the Daily Mail claims that the playmaker suffered a calf strain during a workout. As a result, he may need to miss the next three to four weeks of action rehabilitating.

Mount has not started a Premier League game for Manchester United since early October, and he will now have to fight to make a comeback in time for their holiday season.

In the event of a month-long absence, the Englishman would miss games in the Premier League against Everton, Newcastle United, Chelsea, Bournemouth, Liverpool, and West Ham United. Depending on his recuperation, he might make a return on Boxing Day against Aston Villa.

Mount is also expected to be ruled out of his team’s next two group-stage Champions League matches in Istanbul and Manchester, respectively, against Galatasaray and Bayern Munich.

Man United has struggled mightily with injuries this season; in addition, they will be without Christian Eriksen, Tyrell Malacia, Amad Diallo, Jonny Evans, Casemiro, and Lisandro Martinez against Everton.

Due to a muscle strain he sustained during the team’s 1-0 victory over Luton Town prior to the international break, Rasmus Hojlund will have a late fitness test. In his press conference, Ten Hag stated that a decision about Denmark international’s participation at Goodison Park would be made on Saturday.

Despite having a near-miss injury while playing for Cameroon, Andre Onana is healthy, and Luke Shaw is back in action after missing more than three months due to a muscle issue.

Shaw might return to the starting lineup right away for this match, with Raphael Varane sitting on the bench and Victor Lindelof lining up alongside Harry Maguire in the heart of the defence.

Ten Hag, nevertheless, has categorically refuted rumours that he and Varane are at odds. Varane is most likely to depart Old Trafford in the summer transfer season.
