Martin Snedden replaces Greg Barclay at ICC Womens Cricket World Cup 2022 Board

According to a press release by ICC Women's Cricket World Cup, New Zealand Cricket Chair Martin Snedden has been appointed to the board of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022.

Snedden replaced Greg Barclay, who stepped down from his dual role as the chair of New Zealand Cricket and CWC22 board member to acquire the ICC chairmanship in November 2020.

Chair Liz Dawson said, “We’re absolutely thrilled that we are able to welcome someone of Martin’s calibre and experience to the CWC22 Board as we continue planning to deliver an incredible event in early 2022.”

Before having replaced Barclay as chair of NZC, Snedden most recent work included uplifting the standards of women’s cricket as Chief of New Zealand Cricket’s One Cricket project.

Snedden said, “New Zealand has established a fantastic reputation as a host of major international sporting events and the 2022 Women’s Cricket World Cup is a chance to enhance that even further.”

The 12th edition of ICC Women's Cricket World Cup will be hosted by New Zealand in March and April 2022. The event was previously scheduled to begin from 6 Feb to 7 March 2021, but had to be postponed by one year due to COVID -19.
