(Football news) The 22-year-old has had a difficult 2024-25 campaign for Manchester United, only managing eight goals and four assists in 45 appearances in all competitions, while he has just three goals and one assist in 28 Premier League outings this term.

Hojlund showed positive signs during the 2023-24 campaign after arriving from Atalanta BC, managing 16 goals in 43 appearances, but it has been a struggle for the Denmark international during the current season.

Manchester United are expected to sign at least two attackers during the summer transfer window, including a centre-forward, with Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap both believed to be targets.

Meanwhile, Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Matheus Cunha and Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze are both being linked with switches to the 20-time English champions at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

Due to Manchester United’s financial issues, there will have to be a number of big-money sales this summer, with Marcus Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho all set to move on, while Hojlund is also being linked with a departure.

Man United ‘willing to sell’ Hojlund for £30m

Manchester United paid an initial £64m, plus £8m in add-ons, for Hojlund in the summer of 2023, and he has scored 24 goals and registered six assists in 88 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions.

However, according to multiple reports, the club are prepared to take a huge loss on the Dane, with any offer in the region of £30m likely to be accepted due to his struggles during the current campaign.

Napoli continue to be linked with Hojlund, as he does have credit in the bank in Italy due to the early promise that he showed with Atalanta, while Juventus are also said to be admirers.

Should Man United part with Hojlund?

Hojlund’s confidence has evaporated in recent weeks – that is clear when reviewing his overall performances and body language, but there is still a player there with serous potential.

For £30m, there seems to be little value in selling Hojlund, as similar fees could be generated by the exits of Antony and Sancho, while Aston Villa may also pay £40m for Rashford this summer.

Hojlund needs to have the pressure taken off him, which will be the case when a new striker arrives, and he could then be used as an impact player next term, which has proven to be a strong tactic at stages of the current season.

If a club is willing to pay in the region of £50m for Hojlund this summer, then a serious decision would need to be made, but in the current market, even considering his issues this term, £30m is not enough for a player of his potential.
