Manchester United player is demanding an multi million pay-off while leaving

Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka is reportedly wanting a multi-million pound compensation from the Red Devils to leave the club this summer
Manchester

(Football news) The 26-year-old was tipped to leave Old Trafford on a free transfer at the end of the 2023-24 campaign, but Manchester United opted to trigger a 12-month extension in his contract in January.

However, Wan-Bissaka was not rewarded with a long-term renewal by the Red Devils and has less than a year remaining on his new deal, raising doubts about his future under manager Erik ten Hag.

Wan-Bissaka joined Manchester United in 2019 for £50m from Crystal Palace and has since made a total of 190 appearances for the club in all competitions, including 30 outings last season.

However, the right-back has struggled to produce the attacking output required by Ten Hag, who is believed to be keen to recruit a replacement to rival Diogo Dalot for regular starts.

West Ham, Inter battling for Wan-Bissaka

Manchester United have allegedly identified Bayern Munich’s Noussair Mazraoui as a replacement for Wan-Bissaka and are in negotiations with the German giants over a transfer fee.

West Ham United have also been linked with Mazraoui but appear to have fallen behind the Red Devils in the race for the Moroccan and have since turned their attention to signing Wan-Bissaka.

It is understood that Wan-Bissaka has given the green light to join the Hammers on a permanent basis, but Julen Lopetegui’s side are yet to agree a fee with Manchester United and are said to be around £8m short of the Red Devils’ £18m valuation of the right-back.

Serie A champions Inter Milan, meanwhile, are set to rival West Ham for Wan-Bissaka’s signature and have allegedly reached out to Manchester United about negotiating a deal for the Croydon-born defender, who is said to prefer a move abroad rather than remain in the Premier League.

Wan-Bissaka in no rush to leave Old Trafford?

Despite the interest in his services, Wan-Bissaka has no huge desire to leave Manchester United this summer. The report adds that the defender could bank a significant signing-on fee by staying at Old Trafford and eventually departing on a free transfer in the summer of 2025.

Wan-Bissaka’s representatives are said to be ‘pushing’ for Manchester United to give the right-back a chunk of the £18m fee that they could receive from any interested suitor in order to get a deal done this summer.

Manchester United’s No.29 is believed to be earning £90,000 a week, the same salary that he has pocketed since he moved to Old Trafford five years ago, and he is keen to secure a significant wage increase if he were to leave the club, something West Ham cannot offer as things stand.
