(Football news) Manchester United will look to bounce back from their embarrassing drubbing in the Manchester derby when they resume their Europa League campaign against Omonia in Group E. The Red Devils have only taken three points from their opening two games to sit second in the standings, while their Cypriot hosts are at rock bottom without a single point to their name. Omonia are now managed by ex-Celtic coach Neil Lennon and in their last match they were close to snatching a point away from Sociedad after Bruno Felipe cancelled out Ander Guevara's opening strike, but Alexander Sorloth broke Omonian hearts when he came up with the winner 10 minutes from time for the La Liga powerhouses.
Manchester United won four games on the bounce in the Premier League and it seemed it would have been the ideal preparation for the trip to the champions, but the Red Devils were simply torn to shreds by City players, leading waves of criticism from pundits, fans and journalists. It is still clear that the ex Ajax coach is still finding his feet as now Man United have lost two of their last three games in all competitions. Their 2-0 victory over Sheriff Tiraspol in the Europa League was their last win as United now look to find some momentum.
Omonia possible starting lineup:
Fabiano; Miletic, Yuste, Panagiotou; Matthews, Charalampous, Papoulis, Dikserand, Lecjaks; Ansarifard, Bruno
Manchester United possible starting lineup:
De Gea; Dalot, Lindelof, Martinez, Shaw; Casemiro, Eriksen; Antony, Fernandes, Elanga; Martial
Arsenal will seek a second win in the 2022-23 Europa League when they welcome Norway's Bodo/Glimt to the Emirates Stadium in a Group A clash. The Gunners started their continental proceedings with a 2-1 win over FC Zurich, while their visitors have taken four points from wo games and sit on top of the standings. With nine matches being played this month, Arsenal's squad depth will come to the fore in the domestic and continental action as well. Arteta welcomes Bodo/Glimt to the Emirates, having won each of their last seven competitive games at home. Failure to keep a single clean sheet in the winning run does represent a minor blot on the North Londoners' defence.
For Arsenal the worrying sign is that they have failed to win any of their last three Europa League games on home soil, but there is a different buzz around the Emirates this time and will be confident of getting the win. On the other hand, Bodo/Glimt have won 1 for their last 13 away matches in Europe but that was against British opposition in the form of Celtic. Thursday's game will mark the first meeting between Arsenal and Bodo/Glimt in any competition, and the hosts are also in good form as they are unbeaten after six games in the Norwegian league, but Arsenal have all of their previous six encounters with Norwegian clubs.
Arsenal possible starting lineup:
Turner; Tomiyasu, Holding, Gabriel, Tierney; Xhaka, Lokonga; Marquinhos, Vieira, Martinelli; Nketiah
Bodo/Glimt possible starting lineup:
Haikin; Sampsted, Moe, Hoibraten, Wembangomo; Saltnes, Berg, Vetlesen; Mvuka, Espejord, Pellegrino
