(Football news) Having scored two goals for Roberto Mancini’s team throughout the competition, the 26-year-old made his international debut as Italy won the 2021 European Championship. Chiesa, who first joined Juventus on a loan from Fiorentina in October 2020, has been playing club football for more than three years already.
As a winger, he has scored seven goals in 24 Serie A games this season, which is a quite successful performance for him. An more player has entered the fight to sign Chiesa before the summer transfer window, as reported by Italian journalist Fabio Santini?
Liverpool have firmed up their interest in the 46-time international, entering discussions with Juventus over a possible move. This development follows previous news that Erik ten Hag’s Man United were keen on a transfer for Chiesa, who has played his club football exclusively in Italy so far.
It is also understood that the Red Devils have considered signing the 26-year-old and appointing compatriot Antonio Conte, with the latter replacing Ten Hag in the managerial hotseat. Jurgen Klopp’s side have supposedly submitted an offer for the services of Chiesa, however the success of their initial bid is currently unknown.
It is understood that the Old Lady are looking to pocket at least £34m for the winger who has netted 29 times for the club since joining in late 2020. Chiesa is a valuable asset who may be sold during the next window as Juventus looks to balance the books to avoid financial penalties.
Furthermore, the money raised from the sale of the Euro 2020 champion can be applied to the long-term goal of signing Mateo Retegui from Genoa. Even though Chiesa and Juventus are eight points ahead of fifth-place Roma in the Serie A standings, they are still very much in the running for a Champions League position, 17 points behind Inter Milan in the lead.
