Manchester City will play Sheffield United in EPL

Manchester City, the reigning English, European, and global champions, will try to cap off an incredible 2023 when they play Sheffield United in the Premier League on Saturday at the Etihad Stadium
Manchester

(Football news) The first time the two clubs have faced off is at the end of August, when Manchester City defeated them 2-1 at Bramall Lane thanks to a goal from Rodri in the 88th minute. Five days after winning the Club World Cup for the first time in team history, Manchester City triumphed 3-1 over Everton at Goodison Park to get back to winning ways in the Premier League.

For the seventh time this season, Manchester City was behind 1-0 thanks to a goal from Jack Harrison in the first half. However, goals from Foden, Alvarez, and Silva in the second half helped the team win three points against the Toffees, move to within five points of leaders Liverpool, and climb back into the top four at the time of writing.

Man City’s performance took a hit between the end of November and the beginning of December, but they have since rebounded, winning five and drawing one of their last six games across all competitions. However, their defense still needs work, as they have given up goals in each of their last eight Premier League games—an unwelcome record since Guardiola took over in 2016.

Man City has drawn their previous three Premier League games at the Etihad, giving up six points from winning positions in the process. Despite this, Guardiola and company will be optimistic about their chances of winning against Sheffield United in front of their home supporters on Saturday.

In fact, the Citizens have won all six of their most recent matches in the Premier League and have only lost their final league game in one of the past 22 calendar years. They have also only lost one of their previous 11 meetings overall.

In last weekend’s match against fellow struggling side Luton Town, goals from Oli McBurnie and Anel Ahmedhodzic overturned an earlier opener from Alfie Doughty to put Sheffield United on course for their second straight home victory under Chris Wilder.
