Manchester City are still hunting for a maiden Champions League title as they take on Bayern Munich
Manchester City vs Bayern Munich

(Football news) Manchester City on the weekend won 4-1 against Southampton after which Arsenal drew 2-2 at Liverpool. Now Manchester City are 6 points behind Arsenal with a game in hand which means the title is in their control. They will be looking to get past Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League quarter finals. City were dramatically knocked out of the semi finals by Real Madrid last season. This time around they have someone like Erling Haaland who is a prominent goalscorer in the Champions League. Their opponent is Thomas Tuchel who stopped them from winning the final a couple of seasons ago against Chelsea.

Bayern Munich were knocked out of the DFB Pokal Cup by Freiburg last week but they have recovered well with a 1-0 league win over the same opponent. Last season they were knocked out of the quarter finals by Villarreal. Thomas Tuchel will have a difficult task of getting past Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City but he has done that before. Phil Foden is the only absentee as far as Manchester City are concerned. Bayern Munich on the other hand will be without Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting who is suffering with a knee issue. It will be interesting to see who plays as a striker in the game as there is no obvious and natural replacement.

The biggest battle will be between Manchester City forward Erling Haaland and Bayern Munich center back Matthijs de Ligt. Keeping Haaland quiet is very difficult but De ligt is more than capable of doing it. After a difficult start to his Manchester City career, Jack Grealish has finally started to show his quality. Tuchel will have to choose between Benjamin Pavard and Joao Cancelo at right back. Cancelo who is on loan from Manchester City will be keen to do well against his parent club but he has serious competition for a starting spot at left back and right back.
