Harry Maguire whenever touched the ball, he faced resounding boos from the crowd. Following the match, Erik Ten Hag labeled the conceded goal as 'foolish’

(Football News) Harry Maguire endured a forgettable evening as he faced boos from Manchester United fans, a reaction stemming from his error that led to a goal by Athletic Bilbao on Sunday. Despite not being part of the United squad that secured a 3-1 victory against Lens at Old Trafford, Maguire was included in the starting lineup for the game. However, his subpar passing contributed to Athletic Bilbao’s advantage, with Nico Williams capitalizing on the opportunity.

Eyewitnesses within the stadium, including Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News, reported the chorus of boos directed at Maguire by the United supporters.

Maguire’s pre-season has been marked by challenges, including the loss of his captaincy, and his future at Old Trafford has also been cast into uncertainty.

Following Maguire’s disaster in the defence Manchester United’s head coach, Erik Ten Hag, engaged in a conversation with MUTV and commented, “The conceded goal was an avoidable error, leading us to fall behind. However, we managed to find the net later in the game. Our display demonstrated resilience, a trait that will be essential for the upcoming season.”

On August 14, Manchester United will kick off their Premier League campaign at Old Trafford against Wolves.
