It is the view taken by Slot who is happy for Carvalho to spend pre-season with Liverpool. While it is stated that Slot is yet to decide whether to keep the Portuguese in his squad in the long term, he is eager to see how he performs over the coming weeks.

Carvalho has already made an appearance in a behind-closed-doors friendly versus Preston North End and will now travel with the rest of the group to the United States.

The first of three games takes place against Real Betis on July 27, before showdowns with Premier League rivals Arsenal and Manchester United at the start of August.
