Liverpool look to carry momentum forward in the top 4 race

Liverpool look for back to back wins as they host relegation threatened Nottingham Forest
Liverpool

(Football news) After 3 losses and 2 draws in 5 games, Liverpool bounced back with a 6-1 win away at Leeds. Jurgen Klopp will be hoping that his team can get some consistency. Liverpool played really well last week but they have had these good games throughout this season. The issue is that their level always falls off which is why the Merseyside club is sitting 8th on the table.

Nottingham Forest are currently 18th on the table and are fighting relegation. Forest’s biggest issue is their -32 goal difference which is the lowest in the League. Nottingham Forest also haven’t won a game since 5th February against Leeds after which they have 7 losses and 3 draws. Steve Cooper’s men are in desperate need of points.

Liverpool finally were able to use Luis Diaz who played 9 minutes against Leeds for the first time since October 2022. Calvin Ramsey and Stefam Bajetic are out for the season while Naby Kieta is still not fit. Roberto Firmino is the latest player to be injured as he is expected to miss the next 2-4 games.

Nottingham Forest on the other hand have a long list of absentees. Giulian Biancone, Omar Richards, Chris Wood, Willy Boly and Cheikhou Kouyate, Ryan Yates, Serge Aurier, Dean Henderson and Gustavo Scarpa are all out due to their respective injuries. The good news is that Forest have a very big squad but the key players will still be missed.

Liverpool are having a torrid season as a whole but it can still have a good end if they manage to sneak into the top 4. The reds are currently 9 points behind Newcastle with 8 games to go. Their schedule is slightly more favourable than Newcastle as Tottenham Hotspur at home is the only one that is tricky on paper.

Jurgen Klopp has said multiple times that there will be a big overhaul especially in midfield next season. To help with that Liverpool need to finish in the top 4 and secure Champions League football. However if that cannot be done then Europa League at the very least is a must.
