Liverpool will be looking for a dominant performance after two lucky wins

(Football news) After an underwhelming start to the season, Liverpool have got back on track in the post World Cup period. The Merseyside club have won their last two Premier League games. Even though their performance has been a bit haywire at times, it is way better than the pre World Cup phase. Now they face a tough challenge of Brentford away from home. It is a place where the top clubs have struggled and Liverpool will have to play in order to get a win. The Bees are showing no signs of 2nd season syndrome as they are currently 10th on the table and a win would get them to 7th.

Brentford will be without Kristoffer Ajer, Shandon Baptiste and Aaron Hickey while star striker Ivan Toney is a doubt. Toney had to be substituted in the final minutes against West Ham as he injured his knee. He is likely to be on the bench for the match which is a massive blow for Brentford. Liverpool have a long list of absentees including Arthur, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and Curtis Jones. James Milner, Fabinho and Roberto Firmino could all return to the squad. New January signing Cody Gakpo is likely to make his debut for the Reds but only if the club completes the paperwork in time.

Darwin Nunez has been involved in goals in the last two games but he has also missed a bulk load of chances and he is long overdue a goal in Liverpool colours. Mohamed Salah will also be looking to add to his tally. Brentford’s biggest challenge is going to be Liverpool’s full backs. If Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson are allowed to run the show then it is very hard to stop them from having an impact on the game.
