(Football News) Following an enjoyable opening weekend of the new LALIGA EA SPORTS season, Matchday 2 is right around the corner, presenting a lineup of intriguing fixtures. Notably, both Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid will face challenging away matches in Andalusia against UD Almería and Real Betis in LaLiga, respectively. Meanwhile, FC Barcelona is set to participate in their first official match at their temporary home, the Estadi Olímpic, where they’ll take on Cádiz CF.

Commencing the round is the very first match of LaLiga on a sunny Friday evening in the Balearic Islands, as RCD Mallorca crosses paths with Villarreal CF. This holds special significance for Sergi Darder, a skilled midfielder born on the island, who has recently joined Los Bermellones. Having already provided an assist in RCD Mallorca’s season opener against UD Las Palmas, Darder aims to make an impact as they face Villarreal CF at the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix.

The second Friday fixture unfolds in another Mediterranean city, where Valencia CF squares off against UD Las Palmas. Rubén Baraja’s youthful squad secured a victorious start in the opening weekend and now strives to capture another three points against the newly promoted side.

Saturday brings three fixtures, commencing with Real Sociedad versus RC Celta. Both teams were unable to secure victories on the opening weekend of LaLiga, setting the stage for Mikel Oyarzabal and Iago Aspas to lead their squads with heightened determination at the Reale Arena.

Later on Saturday evening in LaLiga, Real Madrid looks to maintain their winning streak as they travel to face UD Almería on the south coast. Interestingly, the match brings Real Madrid against their academy graduate Sergio Arribas, who recently transferred to UD Almería. Arribas and fellow newcomers will strive to challenge a formidable Real Madrid side that demonstrated an impressive performance in the opening weekend.

A captivating duel between CA Osasuna and Athletic Club concludes Saturday’s action, promising an exhilarating contest at El Sadar as last season’s seventh and eighth-placed clubs clash. With a history of competitive matches, Athletic Club’s quest for victory against Osasuna adds intrigue to the rivalry.

Sunday features three additional fixtures, beginning with Girona FC versus Getafe CF. This encounter promises a contrast in styles as the attack-minded Míchel faces off against the defensive expertise of José Bordalás at the Estadi Montilivi.

The second Sunday match unfolds in Catalonia, marking FC Barcelona’s first home game of the season. However, the team won’t be playing at the Spotify Camp Nou due to an ongoing stadium redevelopment project. Instead, they will temporarily relocate to the historic Estadi Olímpic in Montjuïc gardens for the 2023/24 season. Their inaugural match at this venue takes place against Cádiz CF, and the outcome will be closely watched as FC Barcelona aims for victory at this renowned stadium that hosted the 1992 Olympic Games.

Sunday night presents a significant showdown at the Estadio Benito Villamarín as Real Betis and Atlético de Madrid clash. These powerhouse teams both commenced the 2023/24 season with victories, heightening the stakes of this encounter. With Atlético de Madrid having the upper hand in recent meetings, Real Betis seeks to challenge Antoine Griezmann and his confident teammates.

Monday night features a homecoming for two newly promoted clubs in LALIGA EA SPORTS. Deportivo Alavés welcomes former coach José Luis Mendilibar and Sevilla FC to Mendizorroza, marking the first of Monday’s two matches. Later, Granada CF takes on Rayo Vallecano at the Nuevo Estadio de Los Cármenes. Reflecting on their previous thrilling encounter, anticipation is high for another potentially dramatic match to conclude Matchday 2 of the LALIGA EA SPORTS season.
