(Motorsports news) Kush Maini will be in Formula 2 next year as part of Campos Racing.The Indian racer was in Formula 3 last season and he finished 14th overall last year, with one podium appearance. Maini will partner the experienced Swiss driver Ralph Boschung at Campos Racing next year. Kush shares a family connection with the team as his older brother Arjun Maini also raced for them in F2 back in 2019 for a brief period. Both Maini and Boschung carried out pre-season testing for Campos on November 23-25 at the Abu Dhabi track.
The 22 year old rookie Maini made his single-seater debut in 2016 as he raced in the Italian F4 Championship. He then went on to race in Formula Renault Eurocup and British Formula 3, where he finished an impressive second in 2020. He made his F3 debut last year and was 14th in the drivers’ standings. His best finish was a third place which came at the Budapest Sprint Race. There is a possibility that there could be two Indians on the F2 grid

Jehan Daruvala on the other hand will be the reserve driver for the Mahindra Formula E team next year, a role he is expected to fulfil along with racing in Formula 2. The Red Bull junior recently tested with F2’s constructors champion team MP Motorsport, and it most likely looks set to embark on a fourth season in F2 in 2023. He has gone on to win four out of the 74 races he has raced since stepping up into F2 in 2020. His CV also includes a Formula Renault Northern European Cup win, victory in the 2017 at the New Zealand Grand Prix, three wins in Formula Regional and four wins in Formula 3. This year he tested out a Formula 1 car with McLaren, despite his Red Bull affiliation. Mahindra wanted an Indian representative in their Formula E set up as Darvuala will closely work with Dilbagh Gill.
