Kuldeep Yadav advised to take rest after injury

Due to a groin ailment, Kuldeep Yadav was unable to play in the Delhi Caps' previous two IPL 2024 games

(Cricket news) Kuldeep has been recommended to take it easy as a precaution, although it is unknown when exactly he will be fit to play.

Given that Kuldeep has been traveling with the Capitals team and is presently in Mumbai, where they will play their next game on April 7 against the Mumbai Indians, the injury is most likely not significant.

The Chinaman played Capital’s opening two matches this season – both away games, against Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals – and picked up three wickets. But he missed their next games in Visakhapatnam, their second home venue: against Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders. While the Capitals won against CSK, they sorely missed Kuldeep in their 106-run defeat against KKR, after which their head coach Ricky Ponting said he was “almost embarrassed”.

The Indian selectors will be monitoring Kuldeep’s progress closely, given he is a frontrunner to take one of the spin slots in India’s squad for the T20 World Cup, which starts on June 1 in the West Indies and the USA.

After a triumphant five-match Test series against England, in which he bowled multiple game-winning spells, Kuldeep made his IPL debut. Starting in the second Test and finishing with 19 wickets, Kuldeep was named Player of the Match in the final Test at Dharamsala after going five for four.

The Capitals’ next game is on Sunday, April 12, in Lucknow against the Lucknow Super Giants.
