(Cricket news) In match 31 of the IPL, RCB were convincingly defeated by KKR by 9 wickets with 10 overs to spare. RCB remain 3rd on the table while KKR jump to 5th.
RCB had played well in the first half of the tournament but couldn't replicate their form. KKR on the other hand bounced back from their disappointing first. Bangalore's batting collapsed like dominoes as Devdutt Padikkal was the only batter who crossed the 20 run mark.
Kolkata's bowlers did a magnificent job to restrict RCB to 92. Varun Chakravarty picked up 3 wickets and also influenced a run out as he was named the man of the match. Andre Russell displayed some fiery bowling picking up 3 wickets. His yorker to get rid of AB de Villiers for a golden duck was a jaffa which would've troubled any batter in the world.

KKR's batters didn't have too much to do as the required run rate was well below 5 an over. Shubhman Gill scored a fine 48 while debutant Venkatesh Iyer scored a magnificent 41 to anchor the run chase. There were a lot of positives in the game for KKR. Iyer's innings cement's his place in the side for a while and the team's balance looks to be perfect for the time being. KKR's next game will be against Mumbai Indians on 23rd September.
RCB don't have too much to think about as the loss doesn't reflect anything wrong with the tactics or selections. It was just a batting collapse which is enough to lose any match in the T20 format. RCB will play table toppers CSK on 24th September to try and get their campaign back on track.
