(Football news) Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been awarded the Barclays Premier League manager of the season and the Sir Alex Ferguson trophy for the LMA manager of the year. The German manager has guided Liverpool to the Carabao and FA Cup so far and narrowly missed out on the Premier League, finishing one point behind Manchester City despite amassing 92 points over the course of the season. Liverpool are now on the verge of winning the Champions League, as they will face Real Madrid in the final on Saturday in what has already been a very successful season for the Reds.

While accepting the award, Klopp said “It is a great honour and it was an insane season. The last matchday when only two games were meaningless and, in the rest, we all played for absolutely everything. It was a bit nervy, it wasn't the best outcome for us, but we are already over it. And when you win a prize like this you are either a genius, or you have the best coaching staff in the world – I am here with four of my coaching staff, and they know how much I appreciate them." 

While awarding the Sir Alex Ferguson trophy, the legendary Manchester United manager said “This is agony, it's absolute agony…Jurgen Klopp." Upon receiving the award, Klopp said “This being voted for by my colleagues is obviously the most important prize you can get. I don't believe in individual prizes in football generally, it is a team sport and I would be nothing without these boys there. It is all about what we can do together and what we did together." It was a good day overall for the Reds as Liverpool Women's boss Matt Beard collected the FA Women's Championship Manager of the Year after winning the league while Chelsea’s Emma Hayes Barclays FA Women's Super League manager of the year award.

In other results, Fulham manager Marco Silva was crowned Sky Bet Championship manager of the year while Wigan’s Leam Richardson won the League One manager of the year and Exeter City manager Matt Taylor won the League Two award. Queen’s Park Rangers’ Chris Ramsey and Manisha Tailor were joint winners of the Kick It Out and Sky Inclusion Champion Award, beating the likes of England manager Gareth Southgate and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
