(Football news) Jamshedpur FC shared the spoils from their Indian Super League match against Kerala Blasters on Sunday which ended 1-1 at the Tilak Maidan Stadium on Sunday. Scottish footballer Greg Stewart scored a brilliant freekick in the 14th minute for his side but the lead was cancelled out by Kerala Blasters’ Sahal Abdul Samad in the 27th minute. The 24 year old attacking midfielder scored his third consecutive goal and the two sides are now equal on points (13) in the ISL table.
Greg Stewart has been in-form for Jamshedpur FC and looked close to opening the scoring for his side after a deft first touch to receive the ball at the edge of the box but shooting wide. However, the 31 year old found the back of the net just a few minutes later after Boris Singh fouled Harmanjot Khabra on the inside left channel. Stewart expertly guided the ball from his left foot around the wall to give Jamshedpur FC a valuable lead.
Kerala Blasters’ reaction was instantaneous as Alvaro Vazquez spun around Peter Hartley and dodged another Jamshedpur defender and shot towards goal but TP Rehenesh managed to dive low and block the shot but Sahal Abdul Samad managed to capitalize on the rebound to level the score. In the second half, Stewart received a yellow card for a challenge on Khabra while Vazquez hit the crossbar after a superb chip shot.
With the game nearing its end, both sides upped the tempo to try and find the winner as Rehenesh was forced to pull off a save from Vazquez’s low shot while Jitendra Singh's volley from outside the box took a deflection and went straight to the keeper. Despite the attempts, both sides failed to break the deadlock as they shared a point each in the fixture. Jamshedpur FC will next face Chennaiyin FC at the GMC Athletic Stadium on 2nd January while Kerala Blasters will take on FC Goa at the Tilak Maidan Stadium on the same day.
