Kyle Jamieson out for upto an year with a stress facture to his back

(Cricket news) The New Zealand quick bowler, Kyle Jamieson faces yet another setback in his cricketing career as he is likely to miss cricket for up to an year with a stress fracture of his back.

Jamieson felt some discomfort post the first test against South Africa and missed the second test in Hamilton. Subsequently he was taken for multiple scans which revealed yet another injury to his back. He have had a back surgery previously and the current injury has occurred in the same part of the back.

Jamieson has been a wonderful asset for New Zealand cricket, delivering some exceptional performances across formats, however the last couple of years has not been very good for him. He has missed most of the cricket due to injury since June 2022. The pacer for forced to have a back surgery after his issue reoccurred last year.

“The last few days have been some of my most challenging but I am hugely grateful for the support I’ve received from my partner, family, teammates, support staff and medical professionals,” Jamieson said in a statement. “I know injuries are part of life as a cricketer and at my age I am hopeful I still have many more playing days ahead of me.”

New Zealand head coach Gary Stead said: “We’ve all seen how much work Kyle has put into returning to international cricket and for him to have a setback like this is tough news to get.” “On the positive side we know how determined he is to keep playing cricket for New Zealand and we will be fully behind him on the rehabilitation road ahead.”
