(Football News) James Ward-Prowse signed a four-year contract with West Ham . The transfer, reported to be approximately £30 million ($38.08 million), has been finalized.

Having accumulated a substantial 400-plus appearances for Southampton, James Ward-Prowse assumed the role of captain during the previous season. Unfortunately, this tenure coincided with the club’s relegation from the Premier League, as they ended up at the bottom of the standings.

Expressing his excitement, Ward-Prowse shared, “I’m truly excited to be part of this team. The opportunity to be here is fantastic, and I’m eagerly looking forward to getting started.”

Having earned 11 caps for the England national team, Ward-Prowse dedicated two decades of his career to Southampton. His association with the south coast club began at the tender age of eight when he enrolled in their academy. Remarkably, he debuted in the senior team at the age of 16 in 2011.

James Premier League performance boasts an impressive tally of 17 goals scored directly from free-kicks, trailing only one goal behind his childhood idol, former Manchester United midfielder David Beckham, who holds the record.

Expressing his sentiments, James remarked, “The trajectory of this club’s growth over the past years has been palpable. Coming off the accomplishments in the Europa Conference League last season, you can sense the genuine momentum surrounding this club.”

James becomes West Ham’s second acquisition during this transfer window, joining fellow midfielder Edson Alvarez, who arrived from Ajax.

There have been associations between West Ham and a potential transfer involving Manchester United’s Harry Maguire. British media outlets have stated that the London-based club is in agreement for a transfer fee of approximately £30 million for the center back.
