(Football news) After more than two months of negotiations, Sao Paulo has made a formal offer for James Rodriguez who the Colombian midfielder has reportedly accepted, according to local press. Since leaving Olympiacos in April, the 32-year-old has been on the market for transfers.

James Rodriguez has another offer from a team in Major League Soccer, but he prefers to play in South America. Rafinha’s presence on the team was a significant deciding factor for him. James and Rafinha are great buddies and used to play together at Bayern Munich.

James Rodriguez shared a picture taken from a plane on his social media account after the rumour started making the rounds in Brazilian media, adding to the rumours by including a puzzling emoji. Fans of Sao Paulo left a lot of comments on the post.

São Paulo, which is currently led by Dorival Junior, is currently in sixth place in the Brazilian league and competes in the Copa Sudamericana, the second-most significant club tournament in South America after the Copa Libertadores.

James joined Real Madrid in 2014 after making an impression in Brazil and later became the third-most expensive transfer in the club’s history. He then helped Los Blancos win the Champions League twice.

The Colombian joined Bayern Munich on loan after sliding down the pecking order for the La Liga team. There, he won five major trophies before making a shocking switch to the mid-table Premier League team Everton.

He scored six goals while playing for Carlo Ancelotti, who is currently the manager of Real Madrid. Since then, he has been in decline and spent the next season at Al Rayyan in the Saudi Pro League.
