(Cricket News) As the captain of India, Rohit Sharma, restored the hosts’ innings with a historic century; however, young Sarfaraz won many hearts with his stunning knock against Ben Stokes and Co. on the first day of the third Test match against England. Veteran Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has opened up about the unfortunate mix-up between him and Sarfaraz Khan on the first day of the Test match against England.

When Sarfaraz responded with a single, Jadeja declined the quick run, allowing mid-on fielder Mark Wood to smash a straight hit, ending the entertaining knock for the rookie. After leading India to a respectable total on Day 1, Jadeja took to Instagram to express sympathy for Sarfaraz and accept full responsibility for the run out. “I feel bad for Sarfaraz Khan. It was my wrong call. Well played,” Jadeja wrote on Instagram Stories.

Sarfaraz made a brilliant debut for Rohit is Team India, smashing 62 off 66 before the rookie was run out in James Anderson’s over. The Mumbai batsman also achieved the feat of smashing the joint-fastest half-century by an Indian on debut.

Following Sarfaraz’s departure, Jadeja celebrated his fourth Test century with a sword swirl, remaining unbeaten at 110 off 212 balls as India reached 326-5 in 86 overs at Stumps. England pacer Wood claimed three wickets and leaked 69 runs in 17 overs. On-song Jadeja and nightwatchman Kuldeep Yadav will continue the Indian innings on Friday at Rajkot.
